The majority of the COOL libraries are purchasing single item barcode labels in sheet format. There are a few libraries that are purchasing double barcode labels.
The symbology for the labels is Codabar with 14 digit fixed barcode with a check digit. The check digit is MOD 10. The libraries standardize on their own 4-digit IMLS FCSC identifier / State Library PLSC Number. Patron barcodes start with “2”. Item barcodes start with a “3”.
Example Construction #

- Library FCSC ID = 0040 (Cardington-Lincoln Public Library)
- Accession Number = 00000001 (First)
- Check Digit = calculated (MOD 10)
